Staffroom Furniture


We recently completed a project with Carmel College in Auckland, a school that worked with us as part of the All of Government scheme. We supplied them with sample furniture and did multiple 3D layout options for their staffroom. We followed up to see if they were pleased with the results.

What made Carmel College decide on class*?

There were four things that made us select class* as our preferred furniture supplier:

  • Our previous experience in using them as our supplier.
  • Their exemplary Service – for example, we were able to have a selection of chairs for staff to trial before we placed our order, and we were able to work through several iterations of furniture layouts in 3D!
  • Their range and the availability of product – particularly with respect to our colour choices.
  • Cost – the prices were very competitive, as class* is part of the All of Government Scheme.

What were your expectations of the furniture and how did it meet them?

We wanted well-constructed, comfortable modern furniture that worked to provide different zones in the staffroom i.e. places for meeting, eating (in/outdoor) as well as places for relaxing.

The staff response to the refurbished space really shows that the furniture from class* helped us to achieve that.

Has the furniture had a positive impact on staff well-being?

The consultation process with our staff showed that over 60% of them thought key aspects of a well-planned staffroom was to provide:

An oasis of calm (on days when itโ€™s needed) through the use of a well-coordinated colour scheme that brings a sophisticated and restful palette (i.e. tones of blues, lavenders & pale greens).

Furniture that encouraged conversations – the kind that you might have if you bumped into each other at a cafe.

Spaces where people could attend a meeting without having to reconfigure furniture

Flexibility and easy-to-move furniture for the majority of the space, so teachers can move it around as needed.

Was there one thing that really made class* stand out?

The service has been amazing! The overall selection of furniture has enabled us to make the most of the space and the view to provide an โ€œoasis of calmโ€ for our very busy staff!

For over 30 years now, class* has worked closely with NZ schools, both as a standard supplier as well as more recently through the All of Government scheme. 

We help them make the right choices for their new or refurbished spaces, do everything possible to help them get the outcome theyโ€™re after, and our reps and design people share options, layouts and suggest ideas they may not have considered, while our friendly and super-efficient office team keep everyone informed about delivery and timings.
