class* recently worked with Douglas Park School. We asked them a few questions about the project:

What made your school decide to go with class*?

The decision to go with class* was based on a few factors. We wanted spaces that were modernised and vibrant and the furniture options at class* provided this.

class* gave us design ideas for our new spaces that were different and really considered the functionality and purpose of the space. Cost and value for money were also important factors when selecting a furniture provider for DPS and class* has not disappointed in this area either!

What were your expectations of the new furniture and how does it meet them?

First and foremost, we wanted furniture that added to our wonderful spaces, that was of great quality and appeal to create further pride in our redevelopment. We want staff, students and the community who use the spaces to feel good in them and the furniture has a big part to play in this.

From the outset we knew we wanted functionality and flexibility of our new spaces and therefore the furniture in these areas had to accommodate this. class* was able to meet these expectations with their overall furniture design, providing a variety of furniture to meet the multifunctional uses for each space, which needed to be a café at break times, as well as a gathering place, meeting space, work space and place to relax. The furniture from class* achieves this.

How has having the new furniture impacted on staff?

The furniture has really added to the wow and energy of our new admin and staffroom spaces. The staffroom has really become the hub of the school once again as staff enjoy being there to work or relax with colleagues. The furniture design from class* provided a variety of furniture in the staffroom that allows teachers to meet in small groups, find a place to have some quiet time and relax by themselves, or for us to meet as a whole staff in a comfortable and functional way.

The other rooms furnished by class* are comfortable and appealing to staff, who have commented on how nice it is to have professional spaces for meetings and to work together with colleagues or parents, and the furniture achieves this professional feel. It has been noted by the DPS leadership team that the redesigned spaces have really been great for teacher wellbeing and overall morale of the staff. One teacher commented recently that she loves coming to the staffroom now at break times because she can relax and spend time with her colleagues in a pleasing and comfortable space. The furniture in the space has a huge part to play in this and the space alone would not achieve the same outcome.

Was there one thing that really made class* stand out?

One of the big differences with class* is that they really listened to what we wanted and were more than happy to keep making changes to their furniture design until we had something that we really liked.

I really appreciated Korbyn’s level of interest in understanding what we wanted and converting this into ideas. He was able to take our ideas and combine these with his product knowledge to give us great furniture solutions. class* really sought to understand our space and created designs to maximise its potential. Even when confronted with alternative carpet designs nothing was too much for the class* team!

For over 3 decades class* has worked with schools around New Zealand helping them make the right choices for their particular needs. Our reps work with you to get the result your school is after, while our friendly and efficient behind the scenes team will keep you in the loop regarding delivery and timings.
